The following are some of the most entertaining and thrilling movies. These are some of the movies where the Pope has made his appearance either because the story needed it or just to make the plot more interesting.

10. Just the Ticket

A 1999 film, Just the Ticket starred Andy Garcia and Andie MacDowell. The former was also the producer. The film’s original title was The Ticket Scalper. Gary Starke (Garcia) is a New York ticket scalper who works on the street and doesn’t make sales online. When his girlfriend Linda (MacDowell) gets tired of his lifestyle and leaves him, he makes one last big score which helps him to win her back and straighten out his life. He finds the opportunity to scalp a huge stack of tickets for seeing the popular show in town — the Pope at Yankee Stadium.

9. Deliver Us from Evil (2006)

A documentary film directed by Amy J. Berg, Deliver Us from Evil portrays the real story of Catholic priest Oliver O’Grady, who is known to have sexually aboused around 25 children from 1970’s to 1990s. This film was nominated for an Academy Award for the Best Documentary Feature and also won the Best Documentary Award at the 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival. The title is taken from the Lord’s Prayer, or the “Our Father”.

This is a 2003 biographical film on the life and works of Martin Luther (1483–1546). It was partly funded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and released by MGM. The film stars Joseph Fiennes and Alfred Molina. The film portrays beautifully the life of Luther right from his becoming a monk (1505) to the Diet of Augsburg (1530).

7. Rosemary’s Baby

This is a 1968 American horror/thriller film directed and written by Roman Polanski. It is based on the 1967 best selling novel of the same name by Ira Levin. A young couple move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by strange occurrences and neighbors. After the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, she is overcome with fear about the safety of her unborn child. The film earned several awards and nominations and also got the most positive reviews.

6. The Omen (also known as The Omen: 666)

A 2006 American remake of the British horror film of the same name, the film is directed by John Moore and is written by David Seltzer. The film is part of The Omen series and was released on June 6, 2006 (6/6/06). This number 666 symbolically represents the “Number of the Beast” according to the New Testament.

Directed by Peter Hyams and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger this film is a 1999 action/horror film. It also featured Rod Steiger, Robin Tunney, Kevin Pollak, Udo Kier, CCH Pounder, and Gabriel Byrne as Satan.

Directed by Harald Zwart, this film is a 2009 detective comedy film. It is the sequel to the 2006 film The Pink Panther, and was released on February 6, 2009 in North America. Inspector Clouseau has to group with detectives from other countries in the film to defeat the daring cat burglar, The Tornado.

3. EuroTrip

A 2004 American comedy film, the story tells how Scott Thomas (Scott Mechlowicz) and his three friends travel across Europe in search of his German pen pal Mieke (Jessica Böhrs), who is mistaken for a man initially. After he realizes his feelings for her, they travel to London, Paris, Bratislava, Amsterdam, Berlin and Vatican City in Rome. They encounter embarrassing situations along the way.

2. The Godfather III

Written by Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola, this film is a 1990 American crime film. It tells the story of a mafia kingpin, Michael Corleone who tries to legitimize his criminal empire. The movie also brings to light a fictionalized account of many true events such as the 1978 death of Pope John Paul I and the Papal banking scandal of 1981-1982.

However the novel Angels & Demons was published prior to the novel The Da Vinci Code. The movie’s filming took place in Italy, Rome, and the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California.
